Batavier & Kiah - Blue Lagoon looking towards Gozo
Welcome to the new look Yacht ‘Kiah’ Web site. Having found a new software package (Serif WebPlus 10) we are able to do some better pages (hopefully). Being amateurs we have to have something simple to help us otherwise nothing would get done. We are behind on completing and keeping up with the web site so forgive us if any of the links, pictures etc do not work properly. We have introduced the new Latest News scrolling box (on the right) where we can put the latest brief information for you. Remember this site is for family and friends mainly but is also for anyone that is interested in long distance cruising. We hope you enjoy the content of the site and (if and when I can get the contact button working properly) send us a comment (constructive please).
This new section deals with the things we have learned during our travels. Before our departure we felt we knew all there is to know. How wrong can you get, the things we thought we needed were mostly of very little use to us or completely wrong for Kiah. We soon learned and, with the help of some really fine cruising friends, we eventually got things in a bit better order. Our thanks to everyone who has helped us over the years.
Though not really anything to do with Kiah and our new cruising life, Alan could not resist adding these pages as a tribute to the ship and the guys who served on her. He has also done one for Ganges which you can view by using the button below. Click on either of the pictures or use the Eagle button on the menu bar above. Enjoy.

Having got over the shock of the Tinker theft, we moved from Fort de France over to Anse Mitan where we can swim from the boat or from the beach. Here is the cafe La Marine and it is possible to connect to the Internet for two hours at a time (for the price of a coffee so pretty good). We will stay here in Martinique until the New Year (there are supposed to be fireworks over in Fort de France on New Years Eve and we are told they are generally very good). Then we will take a weather window and head up to Dominica which we are looking forward to, before continuing North to Guadeloupe and Antigua. We had a fairly quiet Christmas and Jim, Sharon and the kids joined us for dinner on Boxing Day. We hope you all had a great Christmas and Doreen & I wish you the very best for the coming year.
